Sophie holds LL.M. in International Business Law from Central European University and Master in Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Presently she is an independent practitioner (arbitrator, mediator, adjudicator) and an advisor to international organizations as well as Georgian public and private entities on various aspects of dispute resolution system and policy. Sophie started her mediation practice in the greater Boston area (US) and is currently mediating commercial and labor disputes at Tbilisi City Court. She also mediates social and environmental disputes as a facilitator of the Asian Development Bank’s Office for Special Project Facilitator (OSPF). Sophie has served as a chair of the Dispute Board under FIDIC Pink Book on a dispute over a sewage system construction project and is currently serving as a sole arbitrator in a dispute over irrigation system rehabilitation project. She is chairperson of the Georgian Association of Arbitrators and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb). Along with practice, Sophie teaches and trains judges, lawyers, civil servants, mediators, students in the skills of effective communication, negotiation and mediation, as well as the law of international sales and arbitration.
